Sophia Deery is a performer, director & choreographer living in New York City. She graduated summa cum laude from St. Paul's School in Concord, NHwhere she was co-captain of the St. Paul's School Ballet Company, and from theUniversity of Michigan with a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre as a James B. Angell Scholar. She was an inaugural recipient of the University Music Society's 21st Century Artist Internship with MacArthur Fellowship-winning choreographer Kyle Abraham in NYC. Sophia was a member of the 2017 - 2018 Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation Observership class and recent recipient of the SDCF Observership on 25th...SPELLING BEE at Cleveland Play House directed and choreographed by Marcia Milgrom Dodge. A classically-trained ballet dancer, she received her training in the United States and in Paris, France. As a choreographer, she has collaborated with directors including Reynold Reynolds and Gabrielle DeCaro.
In 2018, Sophia performed in the six-month repertory season at Tuacahn Amphitheatre in the regional premieres of MATILDA THE MUSICAL and CINDERELLA, as well as in the Stephen Schwartz-supervised production of THE PRINCE OF EGYPT. During the holiday season, Sophia performed in the ensemble of ELF THE MUSICAL at the John W. Engeman Theater.
She is currently choreographing THE VISITORS, a new play opening at the Signature Theatre’s Ford Studio in May, 2019.
